Easter... and yard

Happy Easter! We had a lot of fun this last Sunday. First we gave Mariska her basket and had an indoor egg hunt. After getting her sufficiently hyper on sugar we all got ready for church. We thus went to church and were spiritually uplifted to get us through the next week. Afterwards we went home and dyed Easter Eggs. While waiting for them to get dark enough we played Lucky Ducks. Mariska loved playing and is getting so much better at taking turns. Although we had to explain to her a few times that she can't give us our ducks when she picks them up, that we have to find them ourselves, but that was just cute. Brynley was of course, oblivious to all of this and took some nice naps. We tried to explain the resurrection and purpose of Easter to Mariska, but she's not quite understanding the whole death thing yet anyway. But at least the effort is there!
I've also included some pictures of our yard. We have adorable little apple and peach trees. Our tomatoes froze in a freak late freeze last week, so we had to replace all of them, and a few eggplants and pepper plants. But our onions, peas, beats, broccoli and carrots are all doing great! Brent has sure worked hard to get the garden set up and healthy. I'm sure Heavenly Father will bless his efforts and it'll pay for itself in saving on groceries. Brent is also finishing the project of putting 6 more shelves into our closet. This is where we'll keep the majority of our food storage and emergency supplies. Right now the contents of our closet is spread all over our room, we've had a few fun nights sleeping in the living room! Brent feels badly and thinks I care... I don't care, he gives me the big couch and I sleep just fine. Better actually because I can't feel him moving around. He's got the "jimmy legs".
Anyway, we're doing great! I'm also very excited to report that Mariska has new friends right across the street!! And it's extra exciting for me because I have a friend! We went on a walk today, which we want to make a some what regular thing, and we're going over for a play date tomorrow!! We also have a girl from Mariska's church class come over every Wednesday night while her Mom and Brent go to Scouts. I've seen Mariska's development skyrocket since she's had more "play dates". I love seeing her have so much fun.
We are doing great and things around here are starting to feel like "home". We miss family and Utah but we're really settling nicely here and it feels good. Love you all and hope you're well.

I an so jealous of the flat yard for your garden!!! ALso, are those white PVC pipes homemade irrigation? If they are, I have to know how it works. I am despetrate for better water for my garden.

wow that garden is awesome! that must save on the lawn water bill....or at least the water is going towards feeding you now! haha.

cute kidlet pictures too of course!

Oh & yep....everything in Texas if "flat" though right? ha. I guess we're lucky in the "flat" garden area...even if it is only about 40 square feet. :) Yummy Garden food soon! Good job considering you're pretty busy with a new baby still!

Thanks everyone, we're pretty proud, but I can't take any credit, it's all Brent. Yes, the white pipes are for watering... you can get it all at lowes, just connect the pipes with an opening for the hose on one end and drill holes into where you want the water to come out, small holes. Email Brent if you want more details. brasmussen@desotoisd.org

He says it's more involved then that depending on the type of plant. Or you're welcome to just call us!
