Big Girl Bed!

Well, she's fallen out of her crib once and yesterday morning I opened her door and turned her light on so she could play in her crib with a doll while I brushed my teeth and such. Suddenly I heard her crying out for help and ran in... she was up "straddling" the railings of the crib trying to balance so she didn't fall. She had dropped her doll on the floor and was trying to get it. So, I figured we couldn't put it off any longer, so last night was her first night in her "big girl bed". She was so excited! I wasn't there at bedtime but Brent said they read stories and she went right to bed. She was so cute. Some of you may wonder why we didn't get her a toddler bed and went straight to the "twin". My only reason for this is that toddler beds are a complete waste of money. Anyway, we are so excited at how "grown up" she is and she is so proud of herself too... she loves showing us how she can get in and out of her bed. Yay for Mariska!

And I just thought these were fun...

Tell my mom to send you eggrolls. And move closer than Texas!

Mariska looks so cute (and tiny!) in her new bed! Glad it's working out. Let's see her try those headstands now...

I'm not looking forward to the day when Cambree tries to climb out of her crib. Over Christmas Mike's cousisn's little boy (he's just a few weeks older than Cambree) was climbing out and he fell and hurt his leg pretty bad.

Mariska is too cute. I love the videos.

I agree, the toddler bed is such a waste of money. Funny thing, all of my kids thought that the side rail we put on made it so they still needed to wait for us to come and get them. That was kind of nice...
I bet that she is sooo proud of herself!

we just baught a crib that turns into a toddler bed, than a day bed, and finally into her big girl bed. She does look so tiny in that big bed of hers.

Is that a leash you have on your child? I hate those things. They're for animals, not children. They make me sad. Let your children run free. Although sometimes I think I would like one for my Husband.

That's the only way to do a toddler bed, is if they are part of one big bed the kids can use their whole life.
We've never actually used the "leash". She just likes wearing Elmo. But I gotta say I disagree with you... sure at a grocery store or the park you don't need them. But if we took her to a crowded museum or concert or fireworks or something, I would use it. The point being, yes we use leashes for animals... why? because we want to keep track of them and make sure they don't get lost or taken... I don't see why it's looked down on when people care about their kids enough to use them. Some kids are "runners" and in crowded places a leash might be necessary. (Brent took off when he was 2-3 at a museum in Chicago, luckily a security guard found him, his parent's got him a leash, wasn't lost again)
Some people say it takes away their "dignity"... personally I think some baby outfits do that already, not to mention some Halloween costumes I've seen parents make their kids wear!!

Hear, hear!
We've never needed a leash, but some children try their dangdest to slip away. They don't understand the consequences, but we do. That's why we are the ones in charge.

I'm a big fan of the leash. There's nothing degrading about it. I'd rather have my kid connected to me than have some sicko snatch her up. I hope someday people don't look down on other people for using them. Some parents have kids that are a handful.

And E, tell Maxine's mom to send ME some egg rolls. Those were the best.

Is that a platform bed? Where'd ya get it?

it's a "mates" bed... 100 bucks at big lots... same with the mattress. it has some little drawers on it... it's cute!

I dont know. Maybe im Just a Hippie. I wouldn't put a leash on my dog if she listened. But because of the law I have to. Savannah Dosent go anywhere without Juris or I right by her side, So she can have her freedom to roam, but is under close watch. Plus i think she still likes to be carried around, or pushed in her stroller. Yay for lazy Babies!

Mariska takes off and runs as fast as she can... she loves to be chased. She's learning quickly though that if she takes off running she ends up sitting in the cart the rest of the time while we're shopping and she hates it!

Exactly. There are MANY dogs that are more obedient than my kid. She takes off the second she hits the ground.

See I'm confused about the whole Toddler bed thing. I guess I just haven't "been there" yet with Nathan Jr. He doesn't know how to climb out of his crib yet.

I thought most people bought a Toddler bed in case when they roll around they won't have far to fall? I thought thats how you HAD to do it. Maybe I could just put the baby mattress on the floor in the corner when the time comes. We already have a Twin bed though....but its higher off the ground. We'll see I'm just not there yet.

Anyway thats so cool she's all adjusted. Does she come get you now in the morning?

NO!! She thinks I have to come get her! It's so nice! Right when I open the door she jumps up and says, "I get out!"... We just put a pillow to her side and that keeps her on the bed just fine, we didn't bother buying a rail.
