Mariska started school this week! We are so excited for her. Her Kindergarten teacher's name is Mrs. Flores. She's really excited but she's not the biggest fan about the fact that they have a nap time, which is understandable since she hasn't napped since she was 2. I couldn't get too much information out of her about what they did but it she was happy when she got home, so that's all I really hoped for. This year she is going to the Faith Family Academy charter school. We think we'll most likely move her to the Waxahachie District school next year though, for a few reasons. This school was small and intimate with smaller class sizes, but apparently the other campous was closed this year and their enrollment doubled and the classes are just as big as regular public school. They also changed the start time to earlier because they have all the children eat breakfast in the morning. We don't like that. We don't like that our kid is forced to eat the junk they serve at school in the morning... and then lastly, I'm going back to work next year and we'll need to have Brent take the girls in the morning and this needs to be done by about 7, the bus for the public elementary school picks the kids on our street up at 7:00. The charter school doesn't allow any kids to be dropped off until 7:30, which is when Brent needs to be at work... so that won't work too well.
Brynley seems to be having a harder time with the new schedule than Mariska is. She screamed and cried pretty hard when Mariska got out of the car this morning. And just now as I was about to make lunch she started asking for Mariska and tried going into the garage to get into the car.
Personally, I'm loving the new routine. I enjoy getting up for the day while Brent is still home and I love that I only have so much time before I have to go get Mariska, it makes me so much more productive and the days are going by so much faster!! I'm enjoying errands and shopping with only one child to worry about too. I'm also enjoying not having to break up 6 different screaming matches through out the day. I'm still working out at the Y everyday and I'm down a good 8 pounds in the last 3 weeks, so I'm excited. I still need to work on not eating so many unnessesary calories, but I'm a work in progress!
I hope she adjusts well and makes good friends. For Family Home Evening last night we talked about the importance of choosing good friends who will help you make good choices and not tempt you to make bad ones. Then we played "Lucky Ducks", because you have to pick the right duck! Okay, I'm corny but it's all I could think of.
Other than Mariska starting school we don't have too much going on around here. Brynley will get evaluated by the speech therapist on the 2nd and then I think we'll try to tackle potty training.

Playtime with Daddy... our super hero has been captured by our villan.
Brynley had a good time playing at the Y.... so much dirt, so little time.
These are some videos we took last night. I think they show nicely how my girls get more hyper as they get tired... Hopefully you can understand Brynley, if you know the words to Itsy Bitsy Spider you should be able to follow...

Brynley knows that last song better than I do. I hope Mariska loves school and I am so jealous that she gets to wear uniforms!
