This last weekend we bought two new trees, a young oak and an ash. Our yard gets horribly hot and sunny in the summer and we can barely go out there. We're excited for some shade in the coming years. We're a bit worried about our little oak tree after the storms we had last night. I just read that our winds reached 90 mph! It was pretty scary. Our power was out for about 5 hours, luckily we slept through most of that... but the wind was so powerful and loud that I knew we wouldn't be hearing the tornado sirens if they were going off, so we grabbed the girls and hung out in our closet for about 15 minutes, until it calmed down. Our trees are still standing, but I can't say the same for our fence....
Our ash tree is below and the picture above is our poor little oak!

That's so exciting to have new trees. Hopefully, they'll learn to withstand the wind. Sorry about the fence though - I know what that's like. UGH!
Your neighbor's shed is super cute. Drool.
I know! I love it, we want one like that eventually, once we can get rid of the swing set.
Wow, pretty dramatic having to go into the closet. Glad everybody was ok. I love your new trees! They will be so nice and shady if they can survive the storms. Hopefully your fence will go up again without too much hassle.
It was pretty scary. The wind was so loud. I mostly took the girls in the closet just in case, the wind was so loud there was no way we'd be hearing the tornado sirens if they were in fact going off... even then, 4 years ago when we had that tornado by our apartment, we learned later that the sirens didn't go off until AFTER the tornado touched down! I just say "better safe than sorry"!
Wind bites. Glad the trees lived.
