I don't know if you can enlarge this picture or not, but I had to post it anyway. A few weeks ago Mariska had a Sunday School lesson on sinning and repenting, or rather, the Atonement. I'm not sure exactly what the assignment for the picture was, I think the teacher had them draw a picture of something people should repent of or something like that. This is Mariska's picture. Now, before I explain just what it is, I must stress the fact that the scariest things she's allowed to watch are Disney movies like "Night At The Museum" and "Sleeping Beauty", she has never watched anything worse than PG, and even then she hasn't seen too many of those.... this is a picture of 2 bad guys, breaking into a house to kidnap a baby. Not only are they kidnapping a baby, but she also drew their axe and hammer that they brought along with them to "smash the baby with".... morbid right?? I have no idea where she got all that - the only thing I can think is that we really need to turn down Criminal Minds and The Mentalist while she's going to bed!! Maybe she's over hearing way too much! But this is probably the most detailed "free hand" picture she's ever drawn, so we had to keep it, dark as it may be!

Yeah - maybe turning it down might be a good idea.

This could be a worry of hers. Who knows...

Primary teachers learn waaaaay too much about the families of the kids they teach. Scotty is my worry. First thing out of his mouth EVERY year is my age.

Did she tell you the axe and hammer were to hurt the baby? It's crazy what kids come up with.

I know! Yeah, she told me the hammer and axe were for smashing the baby with.... I couldn't believe it. Another scary thing she said once was that she had a dream that a bad guy was chopping me into pieces! I think turning down our crime shows is probably a good idea. She also just has a super vivid imagination too...

I wouldn't worry too much. Kids that age really don't have a very good grasp of what sinning is, so she probably thought of the worse thing that someone could do that would require repenting i.e. hurting a baby. Then of course it was somebody else that did it and she let her imagination do the rest. I'd be worried if it was a picture of her hurting a baby.

She may have overheard a story of a baby being hurt on the news(which happens far too often) and noticed everyone's horrified reactions. It's amazing how much kids pick up from their surroundings. Unfortunately, it sometimes seems like the news is way too disturbing for kids (and adults) to watch.

Woah.

Aside from the fact that it isn't funny, it is a little funny. Kids come up with some wild stuff sometimes.
