My Mom really wants to be a writer. And she is very talented. I was really happy to get this letter from her this morning:
Hi Everyone,
I just got the results of the "First 13 Lines" (or first page) writing contest I entered. I submitted four different pieces and THREE WON! I won 1st and 3rd place in Adult General Fiction, and 1st place in Adult Mystery. My scores were (out of 100) 91, 84 and 94 respectively. I am in shock, many of the other entries were done by published authors of multiple books. So this is a big deal to me
Anyway, I just wanted to share my excitement. I'm still pinching myself!

That's awesome! Is she gonna write a book someday?
She working on at least one that I know of... but I'm not sure what it's about.
I remember reading a few chapters she wrote once about a child almost drinking out of the wrong water fountain in the 1960's, the whole time you thought it was a black girl, but it turned out to be my mom (obviously a white girl).... it was really good. I wonder what ever happened with it...
That was one of the ones she submitted, I think.
That sounds like one of those stories that gives you goose bumps. Tell her I want to read it :)
