Anyone out there who's ever had to lose weight knows what I'm talking about. For the last month I've been working out 6 days a week. I always do a 5 minute warm up, then on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I do about 10-15 minutes of the elliptical and then a 20 minute weight lifting routine. Then on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays I do at least 20-30 minutes of pretty intense cardio/aerobics. And of course always spending a solid 5-10 minutes stretching... Right now our budget doesn't have room for all the foods I know we should get, such as whole wheat bread vs. white, brown rice, all natural peanut butter, etc... So since I can't afford all that as of now I've done my best with portion control and laying off the desserts. Of course some days I'm better at it then others, but overall I'm doing WAY better then my regular pig out on cookies and brownies routines.
Anyway, I've been a bit frustrated that I haven't felt or seen huge results instantly. Sometimes it so irritating it just makes me want to stop and go back to sitting around eating... but I've stuck with it knowing full well that if I did, time would be my friend and things would eventually happen.
IT HAS! Almost over night I suddenly feel incredible and "leaner"! I've had 2 friends say they can see a difference in my face and Brent and I can both tell there is a difference in my upper torso. (like around my ribs). I'm still squishy but it feels less "lumpy" and more smooth. My legs aren't rubbin together as much and my saddle bags are smoothing out! I woke up yesterday and suddenly my clothes aren't quite as restrictive and I can actually feel some new muscle definition! I'm excited to actually have a "shape" again!! I'm getting my hips back (in a good way)!
I'm so excited and it certainly gives me the motivation to keep it up. Not to mention all the other benefits I've noticed. My morning work out is now my morning "coffee", anti-depressant, and activia yogurt! You want a regulated system, start working out! It's cheaper then fiber pills/powders or fancy yogurts. I'm completely off my daily Zoloft and I'm way happier and less angry then I was while taking it!! Not to mention I'm sleeping way better at night, when Brynley lets me. The benefits to exercise are limitless!!
Don't get me wrong, I still have a long way to go but I'm no longer in my frustration and am now eager to do even more!! I love the days you can see and feel it working!!!
Anyway, I just had to share my joy.

Good for you!! I am on week 3 of 5 days each week 45 minutes of cycling. I do about 10 miles in 45 minutes - I am going hard. Yet, I have seen no change yet. Boo!
Anyway, we all know how Brent can tell you've lost weight "around the ribs" wink, wink!!!
Keep it up!
Awesome! I'm so proud of you for being so committed! That really takes a lot of discipline (I know, because I don't really have it). I'm glad the results are starting to show, too. It always feels good to have some sort of physical confirmation that your goal is getting more within reach. :)
Thanks guys! Amber, are you actually going out or did you get a stationary bike? We have a bike "trainer" that turns Brent's road bike into a stationary bike, but I've never been able to do it... it makes my bum hurt for days!!!
And yeah, the biggest difference is my saddlebags and from my belly button to my bust... luckily I can't say I'm losing inches in the actual bust... but I'm happy that I can say "they're" a good 1/2 inch higher! Thanks to the weights that work your chest muscles!
Way to go!! You are my inspiration!!!
I REALLY hope your enthusiasm and success will rub off on me!
Congrats! I'm super happy for you!
I'm feelin' the joy for you! Great work! I was talking to my brother (a former runner) and Joe--they both said the important thing is to be consitant. Joe said a lot of people would come to the gym and work hard for two months and poop themselves out. Then they'd gain the weight back fast. He said the important thing is to not poop yourself out either, so just do what ya can--and it sounds like you are!
I'm trying to count calories! & workout when I feel like I can - which is about 3-5 times a week.
BUT the most important thing my Mom reminded me about was at LEAST don't GAIN anymore weight from where you are! Cuz we know maintenance is better than repair. (but I didn't feel like I had much control over maintenance when I was pregnant-ha!)
I'm so happy for you! Exercise is indeed an anti-depressant! Just think--you'll be able to wear a pant-size smaller soon!
Oh & What does Zoloft do?
Hopefully I'll start fitting into my smaller clothes soon!
I CAN'T count calories... I mean I know brownies are bad, graham crackers are a good alternative if I limit myself, ect... but the actual measuring and adding and such, I just can't do. It irritates me too much.
I'm certainly not doing too much, I'm just doing as much as the girls will let me! Some days more then others!
