Well folks, the soy formula didn't help. And I've also found small amounts of blood in her stool. Our poor baby! The doctor thinks that she is having a hard time breaking down
proteins. Apparently milk and soy have the same basic
proteins, soy just doesn't have lactose. So anyway, now we have to run out and buy Carnation Good Start formula because that has the
proteins pre-broken down. And we also need to give her
Malox before feeding her to help reduce the reflux more, that's on top of her prescription. So, Brent is going to get that all after work today. And if doing those things don't help, we have a test we have to get done at the hospital scheduled for Friday morning. It's a test to see if she just has horribly bad reflux that we can't see, since she doesn't spit up. If the test comes back that it's not the reflux, then I have no idea what it could be or what we'll do. This is pretty stressful for Brent and me, it's hard enough having our baby scream in agony after every feeding, but the financial costs of what we need to do are adding up. I'm just praying that this formula will work and we won't have to get that test done on Friday, who knows how much that will cost! You've just gotta love our health care system... her
prescription alone
WITH insurance was $76.00 for a month supply. It was $150.00 without insurance!! 150 bucks for a months worth of antacid, that should be illegal. Anyway, without getting into politics further, I'll just leave it at the idea that we won't be getting that medicine again and will try other options. Please keep
Brynley in your prayers that she'll get better soon!
On a lighter note, we finally have pictures!! Brent put them up at work today for me, so I can type and post from home.
This is a lovely sweater Brent's Grandmother sent Mariska for her birthday. It's really pretty and she looks so good in it!

Even though she does have pretty big feet, the camera angle of this picture makes them much bigger and I can't help but laugh at it.

Mariska wanted to be wrapped up just like
Brynley (wanting to be a baby too) needless to say it didn't last long, she'd rather move her arms.

Mariska was so cute last night!! Her Curious George doll was her baby and she did everything to take care of him perfectly! When putting on the diaper she grabbed both his feet at once and lifted him up, just like I do for
Brynley.

Tummy Time!

This is Brent as Santa, he and his coworker made it look alright after all. He had a great time. He said the kid's faces were priceless and he's
definitely do it again next year if they asked!

That's it for us... I'll update on
Brynley in the comment section tonight and/or tomorrow!

The picture of Brent as Santa is hilarious!! Who would of thought a Rasmussen could pull off Santa? The girls look so cute love the rolled up in blankets picture. Makinlee had the reflux and we put her on the carnation formula and it seemed to help. So hopefully that will help Brynley.
Looks like Mariska is Burping the Monkey too! Brynley is soooo cute in her Santa Baby outfit. I see Brent in her in that Tummy Time picture too. Its cute to see your two little ones cuz mine are going through a lot of the same phases right now. (I'm sure that'll continue!)
I'm sorry its so hard with the feeding. I used the formula from the hospital for the first couple days with Nathan Jr. since he wouldn't latch on. He arched away from the Bottles nipple screaming too. Then a while after Breast Feeding got going he started arching & unlatching every 3 seconds - 2min. it seemed for a 20 min feed. He didn't spit up Breast milk a lot either. Other times it took a whole hour to feed him. It went on like that for 5 1/2 months until we struggled to ween him to try different formula's in desperation. (all the while he was gaining TONS of weight so the Dr's weren't concerned about his crying & pain really). After he spit up most every formula we tried (including good start) we were back at the Dr's of course. The Doctor said we had to try ONLY the formula & no breast Milk for one week straight to see if it helped his "symptoms." So since the only formula he didn't spit up right away was the
$24/can Hypoallergenic Similac Alimentum Formula
we tried that for a week straight & it worked WONDERS for a while, then he started back to crying all day long, but not as Hard or intense. Malox did nothing for Nathy. I think the Prevacid for the Acid Reflux helped, but I also think it didn't help with his SLEEP issues. I think he was like his Mommy in the fact that most prescription Drugs keep me Alert & Awake all the time. (I barely got sleep in the Hospital because of how many drugs I was on. I got smart & refused my pain meds & got much better sleep.)
Jessa is such a MILD baby. I haven't posted anything in too much depth about how Content & easy to "read" she is. I just didn't want to "Jinx" anything.
I know some Moms say that if their "colicky" "crying" or "whatever issues" baby was their First Born Child, then they might not have had any more kids because of how difficult it was. I was having faith with Jessa since I'd seen other babies be so content all the time too.
A website that I turned to when I felt soooo alone with Jr's issues was:
www.cafemom.com
I joined the "Colic Support" Group on that sight. My username was: newmom2nate. This site was helpful & a tiny comforting to read other Moms Stories, Suggestions, & tips & tricks on dealing with difficult issues in their babies infancy. But they're are many more groups & I'm sure you'd be able to find one on "Formula Issues" too. You can also POST QUESTIONS to other MOMs.
You can also POST QUESTIONS to other MOMs.
Amyway, I know I could go on & on with stories, & suggestions, but I don't want to overwhelm you with too much info & reading since I know your time is limited with a newborn. I might be missing some info on Nathy's conditions, but I will try to relay them as I recall bits & pieces since I didn't keep a journal during that time. I'm always here to talk if you'd like. We will keep Brynley (and all of you) in our prayers.
The baby stuff can be so hard to figure out! Good luck!
Both kidlets are so cute - miss them so much.
I'm going to the temple tomorrow and will put you all on the prayer roll.
Brynley is too cute! Both of your girls are adorable. In the tummy time picture Brynley looks just like Brent. Fun fun!
When will you guys be coming back for a visit??
Those pics are so cute! I LOVE her big feet! So cute! And I LOVE the pic of the 2 girls swaddled in the blankets. I hope you figure out the formula thing! No fun!!
Well the first feeding with the new stuff she screamed only a few times, but before feeding her she accidentally spit out a lot of the antacid, so it may have been that. We've had 2 feedings since and not a single scream yet!! I'm so excited and thankful that it seems to be working! Hopefully she'll out grow the protien intolerance soon, $25 bucks a can for formula is not our thing, we're generic folks!
